Summary of Conventions in Music Magazines

These magazines show the typography and colour is used well to attract the audience, making it stand out. The makers of these magazines have thought about colour schemes which work well together as they also stand out on the front cover, contents page and double page spread. For example white text on black background makes it stand out to the eye. An ordered layout around the magazine on all pages makes it easy for the reader to navigate the page and also easier to read. Also with the layout having the route of the eye or the rule of thirds this can help the audience when reading the page. The ratio of image to text has to be balanced for the reader to read the page because too much text could put someone off reading the page. Images are thought in this by normally having close eye level shots of the people in these magazines. The mise – en – scene is thought having the costumes the same colour as the background so it goes well together and so they can lay the text above it that makes it stand out.
