Summary of Initial Questionnaire

From the initial questionnaire I found put information from my target audience and researched them so I know what to put into my magazine.

One of the questions shows the majority of the people questioned prefer to have interviews in a magazine but this was nearly just as popular as pictures, news and blogs and up and coming bands. So this would be some of the things I’ll have to have in mind when I create the magazine. In one way or another I will try and incorporate some if these as this gives the target audience what they wants.

Most people preferred the black and white colour scheme that is kind of basic but I can add another colour to that so it takes in the targets audiences interests and I can still make it appealing.

Just over half the people preferred an informal magazine which there was still a few who waned the formal looking magazine, this means in my magazine I have to have a mix of formal and informal so there is a balance so each half get what they want form the magazine.

Most of the people questioned on what magazine have they recently purchased and the majority of said Vibe and 2ND was kerrang.  This shows these magazine are some of the most popular so I could follow some of these techniques and ways they promote there magazine. By using some of these techniques these magazine use and what I’ve got from the research this  would in creating a successful magazine.

More people said the magazine should be between £3 to £4.99 and the rest of the audience said from £1 to £2.99. so the magazine should roughly be between £2 to £4 as I think this would be a fair price and would be happy for the target audience.

The question of how often do you buy a music magazine the majority of the surveyed audience sad a monthly magazine which is good as in the music industry it would be hard to write a high quality magazine for a week of news and to distribute it.

Initial Questionnaire with Summary Beneath Graph

This shows that the majority of the people who were question were males.

This shows that most 40 % of people said sometimes and 20% said yes and no. so there is mixed results here. This means people sometimes pick up magazines of the shelf’s to we have to make the front cover appealing so that it appeals to these people.

All of the people questioned were in the age category of 15 – 20. This shows that my target market is 15 – 20.

This shows most people liked the colour layout of Black and white and secondly blue and white, this shows people like to see bright colours in a magazine.

This answers to this question shows people like to pictures, interviews and news and blogs as features in a magazine. This means I should include pictures news and blogs and interviews  as features in the magazine to attract people to read the magazine.

This shows majority of people prefer informal magazine. This means I should make the magazine have an informal language but not so informal .It should keep a formal tone to it as well.

This shows people like magazine like Vibe and Kerrang. I should try and use the same techniques that the VIBE magazine uses to attract my target audience.

This shows people will pay around £1 to £5 for a high quality magazine. So  I could set a price for my magazine at around £3.50.

This shows most people but a music magazine monthly more than fortnightly and weekly. So I should consider making the magazine a monthly occurrence.

This shows majority of people answered that  they do like competitions in music magazines. I should include some magazines in my magazine to attract the target audience.

Text –   We had an interview with Nephews Noise right before his concert in London at the Wembley arena. This is exactly one year since his album came out with a cross between hip hop and R’n’B which has topped both charts.  At mainstream Magazine we were delighted to have an interview with him. Here’s his answers to our questions.

Q. Hello Nephew’s Noise, how busy has the last year been with the new album coming out?

A.  It’s been extremely busy, it was a slow start because not many people had heard of me but once people started buying the album and hearing some of tracks on the radio and internet I just became more and more popular. It was amazing how fast the news got around.

Q. With so many people knowing who you are now, do you have any plans to start touring nationally and maybe internationally?

A. The tour that’s being planned is going through all the main cities around the Uk and there’s over 50 venues. Half of the tickets have already been sold for most of the venues but there’s still plenty more left and there’s plenty more time for my fans to start buying these tickets. The tours start in the summer of next year and last until the winter. There are no plans for international tours yet but there’s still the possibility of it happening in the future if I grow a wider global fan base.

Q. Are you amazed how many people like your music and how popular it has become all of sudden?

A. yes, It’s  quite shocking how so many people like my music and they took an instant attraction to it. I was surprised when I started selling albums so fast but the best bit was how high up the charts I was getting. For someone who just broke into the music business it’s been an amazing time. Time has flown by, it was only a year and a half ago when I was doing a normal job every day of the week and was listening to some of my idols in the music industry and now I’ve got songs which are selling.

Q. Why do you think your songs have become an instant success with the general public?

A. I’m not sure really, When I wrote them they were just songs from things that have happened in my life or what I want to happen in the future.  I think the way it’s sung and the music is a big factor why people like it. Its unique and different which I think makes it so popular. I didn’t want to follow other artists and create something the same that’s already in the market, I wanted to be unique and create my own style, this is the reason why it’s a cross between hip hop and R’n’B.

Q. Where did the name Nephew Noise come from?

A. Well when I was younger I had many nephews who were always making noise and being loud and all I wanted to do was listen to my music. So that’s when the name originates from. Quite simple really.

Q. What inspired you to chase your dream and become an artist?

A. It’s always been a dream of mine and I used to listen to R’n’B and hip hop when I was younger but there was not much music about like this about. My family supported me a lot when I went through the process of submitting my unique style of music to record producers but the perseverance paid off and I signed a record deal.

Thanks for the interview Nephews Noise, good luck with the tour.
